Wychwood School is a co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11-18 set in the heart of Oxford. Wychwood aims for academic excellence through creativity of thought by providing education of the highest quality in a well-rounded and unique environment, enriching pupils’ education through creative approaches to learning and empowering them to face challenges head on with confidence.
Wychwood focuses on innovation, collaboration, creativity, and leadership to deliver added value to all its pupils, striving to inspire the great minds of tomorrow. Its approach through creative thinking runs across the entire Wychwood School curriculum and extra-curricular, it is infused in everything the pupils do from the creative subjects such as art, textiles and photography right the way through to STEM, humanities and sport.
From the moment a pupil arrives at Wychwood, staff are highly experienced in supporting pupils’ strengths and weaknesses, offering support and challenge accordingly. At GCSE and A Level, Wychwood attains significantly over the national average and alongside traditional study, pupils have the chance to complete elective courses in a wide range of subjects, from theatre production to robotics.
Pastoral care is at the core of Wychwood’s ethos, and boarders are provided with a secure, safe, and happy community where they can learn effectively, enjoy social time with their friends and have the freedom to grow and mature as individuals. Form tutors and progress tutors are in place to support pupils and monitor academic progress as well as their pastoral care.
Wychwood has a palpable, shared spirit, where pupils are encouraged to uphold and value their community in the right spirit, and to find their natural space and place in the world.
