The village of Islip was the birthplace of Edward the Confessor and has a lovely medium sized playground with plenty to keep kids of different ages happy.

Built mostly of wood, it’s an attractive play park, inspired by Edward the Confessor, with a fun wooden boat and statues.  The zip wire is a favourite of my kids but they also enjoy imaginative play in the various wooden climbing house structures, balancing on beams and of course the swings.  Smaller kids will enjoy the nest swing and little slide while older ones can stretch themselves further climbing the larger structures.

The play park is all grassed and there are also a couple of picnic tables making it a nice spot to bring a packed lunch too.  On a hot summer’s day we have also popped into the village shop next door to buy an ice cream treat.  The village hall has toilets which is an added bonus and there’s plenty of parking too.

Next to the play park is a lovely big grassy area, perfect to kick a ball around or fly a kite.
