My big boys are back at school so today has been a mini Red Kite and me day. I’d head great things about Fosseway Play Barn which is the new soft play in Moreton in the Marsh at Fosseway Garden Centre.
Fosseway Play Barn was bigger than I was expecting, somewhere midway between one of the mega ones like Sprouts but larger than the one at Yarnton Garden Centre. My almost 3 year old was bouncing up and down when he got his first look and we were greeted and served by friendly and helpful staff throughout our visit.
Bright, spacious and colourful, the soft play opened just a few weeks ago (Aug 2019) so everything is brand spanking news. It’s been designed for children right from babies through to 11 years old. My eldest is 9 so while he’d like a quick run around I’d say this was more orientated up to 7s.
We visited after the schools had gone back so the area for bigger kids was pretty quiet and my little one my a bee line for it. Arranged over a couple of levels there are plenty of interesting ways to move from one section to another. There’s rope bridge and netted area as well as an easier route up soft play stairs. The highlight was the cow print slide that we did again and again and again and we even ventured down the dark curly green slide at top speed.
As well as a see through tunnel, swinging ball and giant ball enclosure, I thought the bouldering wall was an usual addition. It was slightly out of reach for my son and would be perfect for 3-6 year olds to have a go.
There’s an area specifically designed for toddlers too with a ball bit and smaller version of the black and white slide.
When you have a really little one, it’s always good to have a safe space where they’re not going to get trodden on by over excited youngsters. At Fosseway Garden Centre soft play they have a mini area for babies and crawlers with ride on soft play shapes.
Tucked to the side of the soft play frames is a more chilled out zone with comfy sofa and a fantastic range of children’s books. We curled up and read lots of books and did a couple of jigsaws too.
I didn’t manage to get any photos of the cafe area as there were people sat in it but it’s bright and fresh with plenty of space around the tables and looks over the soft play. If you’re lucky you might even get to sit down while your kids go for a run around.
Fosseway Garden Centre has a restaurant but it was great to see that the soft play had it’s own cafe so you don’t need to trek in and out. Hot are served in gorgeous reusable bamboo cups which are available to buy at the garden centre, I treated myself on the way out. They also serve breakfast items like bacon baps and lunch from 11:30am onwards. The range of cakes looked very tempting and most of them are baked at the garden centre. I would have a loved to have one but my son was keen that I didn’t sit down for more than a few minutes at a time!
