Where to See the Christmas Lights Switch On in Hertfordshire

Find when all the Christmas lights are being switched on across Hertfordshire in 2024. Many of the events combine with a visit a Santa’s grotto, food stalls, family entertainment and a Christmas market.
Christmas Lights Switch On in Hertfordshire 2025
Saturday 15th November
- Welwyn Garden City Christmas Lights Switch On is a day of family fun which includes a fun fair, performances from local schools and dance academies and much more.
- Hitchin Christmas Christmas tree lights switch on event will have live performances starting at 11.30am, food and drink stalls and Santa’s Parade.
- The magic returns to Hemel Town Centre with the Christmas lights switch on and a fun packed day.
- Watford ‘Winterfest’, a completely free event which includes e Christmas celebrations, funfair rides, food & drink stalls, a high street parade, live stage performances, Santa and the Watford Christmas lights switch on.
Sunday 16th November
- Enjoy festive lights at St Alban’s Christmas Cracker and music, games, crafts, entertainment plus a free Santa’s grotto.
- Bishop’s Stortford Christmas tree lights switch on will take place around 3.45pm with a special guest
Saturday 22nd November
- This years Stevenage Christmas light switch on is jam packed with entertainment
- Letchworth Christmas lights switch on event will have food, drink & entertainment all day. The light parade starts at 4.30pm with the Christmas lights Switch On at 5pm
Sunday 23rd November
- Berkhamsted Christmas Lights switch on takes place at 5pm with the Festival of Light starting from 3:30pm
Friday 28th November
- Hertford Christmas lights switch on takes place at the Hertford Christmas Gala with market stalls, live entertainment, fairground rides and the Christmas Light Switch-On at Salisbury Square (6pm)
- Welwyn Village Christmas lights festivities begin at 4.30pm Welwyn St Mary’s Church.
- Southdown Christmas Light switch on event brings a variety of entertainment including carol singing, fair ground rides and stalls. Enjoy free entry to meet and greet Santa and craft activities!
- Royston Christmas Lights switch on festivities commence at 5pm, with the light switch on scheduled for 7pm.

For one night only, the tractor rally will see over 100 festive farm vehicles hit the roads of Baldock, Letchworth and Hitchin, bringing the magic a few days before Christmas. It’s the biggest free, family-friendly Christmas event of its kind in Hertfordshire and is certain to put a smile on the faces of all who stop to watch.
