Tiny Ideas Festival 2025

Produced by Tiny Light Theatre and Wild Boor Ideas, Tiny Ideas Festival celebrates 0-7 year olds and the creativity they bring to the world with a mega line up of events over the weekend in Oxford.
From theatre, movies, workshops and storytimes there’s lots going on.
Saturday 27th September
Boxes by WhatNot Theatre at 10.30am & 2pm

A sensory show developed for under threes about what our imaginations conjure when we look inside a simple cardboard box. Discover the magic when we lift the lid…encounter hidden lands and enchanting characters, brought to life through the senses and an un-extraordinary cardboard box!

An interactive dance show for 3-7 years & their grown ups. We flock, we swoop, we travel across time and space, a soundscape immerses us into a dance together. An immersive, in-the-round performance with a tree in its centre. A playful & poetic journey through the seasons that will transport the whole family. Accompanied by a live and original score, two dancers play in the leaves, chase feathers & wait hopefully for spring.

Cheesy Tunes – a play-along theatre adventure – join Ratty’s band!
Come along for a fun, relaxed participatory theatre session with The Last Baguette theatre company. There’ll be silliness, play-acting, games and music… Expect to play, move, watch and laugh. Join Ratty and her friends for a fun and gentle introduction to theatre with play-along storytelling, original music, puppetry, theatre games, movement, and lots of imaginative play. Ratty has a lot of ideas but sometimes things don’t go according to plan….can you help her by playing along and working together? Created for ages 2-6 and their grown-ups, but younger and older siblings welcome!

Come along to the fabulous UPP for family favourite films for all ages with a themed craft activity! We’ll be showing the much loved The Snail and the Whale at 11am and the Disney animated classic Alice in Wonderland at 12.30pm, both as relaxed movie screenings with an accompanying make for children.

Blending drama and multi-sensory playtime in a relaxed and beautifully designed environment, this is a celebration of the wonder, joys and challenges of becoming a new parent. After each performance there will be a guided Stay and Play session – a chance for everyone to explore the world of the show and meet other parents and babies.

Parents Power Hour is like creative stay and play for grown-ups! Led by artist and mother Rachel Gildea, this is an inclusive and creative space for parents, grandparents and carers to reconnect to themselves and their creativity. It’s a child-free space but babies under 1 are welcome to join us.

Stopping to Notice with author Miranda Keeling is a workshop for ages 5 to 9 year olds and their grown-ups based on finding joyous, tiny stories in ordinary things. Using words, sound and colour, Miranda uses mindful observation to help with overwhelm and to enable us to focus on moments of magic in the everyday!

An intergenerational mini show and workshop aimed at 3-8 yr olds and their adults. Watch a little stitched puppet story by Emma Boor of Wild Boor Ideas, then work together with your adult to make a puppet with fabric, threads and your imagination! Use tying, knotting and simple stitching and make your own lovable fabric friend (suits all abilities)
