Heritage Crafts Weekend at Chiltern Open Air Museum
26 July - 27 July

Chiltern Open Air Museum’s heritage crafts weekend returns – this time with even more traditional skills to discover.
Step back in time and witness traditional crafts in action. Across the museum they’ll be showcasing the work of traditional craftspeople including natural dyeing, flint knapping, felting, lacemaking and spinning. There’ll also be live folk music throughout the weekend, adding to the atmosphere of the event.
See a blacksmith at work in the forge, meet the Middlesex Woodturning group, and discover thatching techniques.
Meet a farrier – specialising in the care and shoeing of horses’ hooves.
Learn why rope walking may not be what you think.
Visit the bodgers area in the woodland to see the chair-making tools of the Chilterns and find out how we make charcoal in our kiln.
Explore the history of these heritage crafts and have the opportunity to purchase handmade items from the expert makers.
