The way in which the plate is set up allows parents to divide the food into type, colour or size. If the two smallest spaces of the plate are not used for food, the bowl and cup can instead be placed in these spaces and used as a tray to carry food and drink together.

I had two very excited little ones who were eagerly trying to open the boxes, they came very well presented in their recycled packaging and at first glance the packing was great. Upon opening Noah was very excited as the plate reminded him of Mickey Mouse with his circle ears, before I even had a chance to look at the plate set he had taken it out the box and was already pretending to eat his dinner from it, and insisted it was dinner time there and then.

There was a lot to this dinner set and it looked quite adult in its design, it comes in neutral colours which he particularly liked as made him feel grown up. There was the main plate, a bowl, a beaker, and then the cutlery, what was great was that it all fitted together so could all be carried like a tray. The only downside was there was no where to store the cutlery.

It’s quite a robust set and well made, which it needed to be in order to survive dinner time (I’ve lost count of how many times plates have been thrown on the floor and luckily these seem shatterproof, not like our usual plastic ones) The cutlery is a good size and they could both hold all the pieces comfortably in their hands.

Now the big test was dinner time (if anything like our house then it’s like feeding time at the zoo) I am very pleased with these dinner sets, it was great as I could serve up dinner and use all the different compartments to arrange the food. Noah who’s 2.5years was able to drink from the beaker and enjoyed using his cutlery, Isabella who’s only 1years preferred to use her hands and found the water came out too quickly from the beaker but the versatility of the product means she can learn and gain the skills from using this.

Overall this product is certainly worth the money, we’ve gone through a lot of plates during our weaning stages which have ultimately broken when thrown on the floor, or have gained those dreaded spaghetti bolognaise stains. These have withstood two little toddlers who have definitely taken them through the testing stage, and it’s great to see them getting so excited about dinner times now as they can’t wait to use their Mickey Mouse plates (that’s what they have named them)

Dantoy has have a range of eco friendly toys and we’ve reviewed the imaginative play baking set and ice cream toys.
