Cobbs Play Barn, just outside Hungerford was a finalist for indoor play in the Red Kite Days awards 2019. I knew I’d have to go and take for a look for myself and find out why so many people nominated them.
It’s not quite soft play as you would usually find it with bright coloured padded stairways but more like a outdoor wooden play park with the benefit of being inside where it’s warm and dry. It’s not mega huge but with plenty to do and arranged over two levels, it was ideal for my two year old.
We zipped straight in my son was straight into a little play shop, handing me out a variety of items to buy. He loves imaginative play so was excited to find more little areas set up like this with a kitchen and a DIY zone.
The play structure itself is good fun. Clamber up, traverse the rope bridge, crawl through the tunnels and whizz back down the slide. For really little ones there is a separate small soft play area conveniently located next to tables in the café so if you’re lucky you might get to slurp a cup of tea too.
The café has a good range of food for all ages and some really yummy looking home-made cakes.

Children With Additional Needs
On the 2nd Friday of every month, Cobbs Play Barn run a quieter more relaxed play time for a SEN morning. They have help from Swings & Smiles with sensory lights, interactive and hands on toys and full run of the play barn. Entry is half price with unlimited squash for all children and parents & carers are free.
