Caldicott is a day and boarding country prep school for boys aged 7 – 13 in South Buckinghamshire. Situated in 40 acres of magnificent grounds and only 30 minutes from West London, our daily return bus service runs from Chiswick, Notting Hill, Brook Green, Hammersmith, Barnes Bridge, Marlow, Northwood (from 2025) and the local area.
Academics
With a reputation for preparing boys for scholarships and Common Entrance to top UK public schools, including Eton, Harrow, Radley and Wellington, we prioritise above all else finding the right school for each boy. Importantly, we are a school for all-rounders, evidenced through the 63 scholarships to over 20 different senior schools our boys achieved since 2020 across academia, sport and the arts.
Sport
Our ‘sports for all’ philosophy enables us to provide our boys with incredible life experiences as they form long-lasting memories with their friends. Caldicott teaches lessons to our boys that they take with them off the field: the ability to persevere, work in a team, and tackle challenges with a smile are a few examples of this. High achievers in sport, the thing our sports department is proudest of is the fact that every boy gives it a go, and has the opportunity to play in competitive fixtures every week. The termly highlight perhaps, is the internal competitions, in which only boys outside of the top teams can participate concluding in an epic grand final complete with pyrotechnics, live commentary, music and a buzzing crowd.
Cherishing Childhood
We let boys be boys at Caldicott; this involves a lot of hands-on learning, where boys make the most of our spectacular grounds for various lessons. In 2022 we were commended by the highly regarded blog, Muddy Stilettos, for our pastoral care, which uses an innovative and holistic approach to ensure all our boys are happy and achieving their potential.
As one parent puts it, ‘We have really noticed how expertly Caldicott balances the academics, values and fun that you hope boys can experience during childhood. I never thought an 8-year-old would spring out of bed to get the bus to school each day so inspired and excited!’
Boarding
Caldicott offers a very gentle and nurturing introduction to boarding with our team of matrons, nurses and houseparents fostering the right balance between teaching independence, resilience, and offering home-from-home comfort. We were very proud to have been crowned as best school in the UK for supporting junior boarders, by the Boarding School Association (BSA), and using our unique ‘Weekly Wellbeing Survey’ (which all boys complete) we can combine the qualitative information collected by our expert staff members with regular quantitative data.
It is no longer compulsory for boys to board in Years 7 and 8, and instead Caldicott offers a range of Day Plus, Weekly and Full boarding options, as well as flexi boarding from as early as Year 3.
