Right next door to the National Trust site of Biddulph Grange you will find a gorgeous walk at Biddulph Grange Country Park in Staffordshire. With free parking, toilets and a cafe too, what’s not to like.
A massive 73 acres park of woodland and open meadows. Take the path through the trees and walk along the stream which is definitely my favourite part of the place. The stream weaves through the trees with so many small waterfalls, it really is a beauty spot.
There is a central lake where you can feed the ducks and a stone boat house. Along the well constructed paths you will find a number of different routes to follow. There is a Grade ll listed stone bridge on the Himalayan walk in the park as well as some wooden bridges which make the walk more interesting.
As you walk around the lake you will find the “Mile Walk” which takes you up a long path up the hill to find a cave. At the other end of the Mile Walk you can see sneak a peek through the boundary gate of Biddulph Grange to see the Urn and gardens on the other side.
The park has a visitor centre, with a cafe called The Hideaway, it is a nice little cafe and a real benefit to the park. It serves sandwiches, toasties and paninis, cakes, small snacks and drinks. My daughter got a chocolate brownie (£2.50) and a childrens hot chocolate (£1.85) and I got a tea (Jan 2023) There is also a fridge full of Snugburys ice cream which will be lovely to have in the summer months.
It was a good place to warm up today as our walk had been a little drizzly so our hands were cold. There are also toilets at the visitor centre , as well as a 40-space car park.
